They think about French culture or German engineering, and that's because there's a True European Core (France, Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway). Then there is the periphery, which still calls itself Europe but has in-fact varying degrees of non-European admixture. Some regions in those countries are almost completely non-European (southern Italy and southern Spain for example).
