A lot of old people don't want rest. Without something to stimulate them a lot if elderly slip into dementia. It's amazing how fast you see old lonely people you worked with fall apart mentally after they retire.

Yes they are. They say bullshit like “I paid into the system” knowing full well they paid like $100k total and their Medicare costs like $800k. We were told to go to college for useless fuckin degrees where we paid exhorbitant prices to find Boomer professor salaries. Then we had to go to grad school because “Master’s degree preferred” and take on even more debt to fund their fuckin salaries. Then, with a fucking graduate degree in hand we graduate at 25 after years where we could’ve been contributing to the economy and building savings and they have us do the most mundane bullshit jobs like fetch coffee an scan files with no hope of advancement because they outsourced and automated every single job they left ad they climbed the ladder. In the end the majority of our paycheck goes right out the door to student loans and benefits for boomers. Then, they have the nerve to print money, prop up their pensions, and do all borrow all kinds of future value at our expense to prop up their assets and pensions.

This is a factual phenomenon. Men tend to die soon after they retire because they become idle and aimless.

Thats why you should have hobbies or other passions beside working

Do you not know any old people? My grandma is 85 and has a list of health issues longer than LOTR and she can't wait to go to her bumfuck village and do serious garden work, house fixing etc. Old people want shit to do otherwise they die mentally and soon physically

Yeah, you should but hobbies only get some people so far. They have a need to do something useful especially after a lifetime of doing exactly that. Hobbies are kind of useless and basically unimportant.

you simply run out of things to do, work helps pass the time. I've been off of work since this covid shit started and there aren't any house/garden/car projects left for me to do at all, they're all done. waking up, working out and cleaning my house really only takes 2-3 hours tops every day which leaves me with 8-10 hours of free time, it gets rather boring and not many 'hobbies" allow you to pour up to 6 hours of your time into it without burning you out prematurely. hanging out with friends is cool but again you're not going to want to see them every day or you'll get sick of them.

I’m going crazy from working an actual job from home for 30 hours per week. I can’t imagine what I’d do if I had nothing to do at all. I don’t know how NEETs and retirees do it.

Yeah in my postal orientation there were a lot of old people saying they were already retired but were bored as fuck and only watched TV, so they wanted part time hours as a mail delivery guy. My dad is a lawyer and retired, got bored for a year and now he works part time as a paralegal for the local law firm.
