I'm pretty sure the combined GDP of all countries speaking spanish would be fairly large
not only that but the large population means there's high demand and offer for media like books and movies
you could be from an incredibly rich country where everyone is a billionaire, but if you have 1 or 2 million speakers, you're going to consume mostly foreign media, and maybe get one worthwile author every century

I went to classes and I only learned A1.

I got several textbooks from my friend from Goethe-Institut. I think Duolingo is helpful if you have zero knowledge on that language before starting proper studies. Kind of stretching before main workout.
