Americans have this weird "the customer is always king" culture. That makes people incredibly entitled. It's also tied to tipping culture, btw.
In all kinds of service jobs, satisfying your customer is top priority. As a waiter and the likes, it is especially important to make you customer happy because you rely on your tips to keep your job. Then you got shit like Walmart where people are forced to approach you and smile at you no matter what. Stuff like that leads to incredibly entitled customers who abuse these kinda systems and demand ridiculous things, which some places just give in to because they are scared of unhappy customers. But we are reaching ridiculous degrees of it cause of all the "woke" Karens who think they "beat the system" by not doing as they are told, often accompanied by believing whatever conspiracy is trending right now.

Oh, also their legal system in regards to sueing, that also encourages entitlement. Whenever something bad happens to you, you can easily shift the blame to someone else. And sometimes it doesn't even matter who is right, it's just about "who can afford the better lawyer" if it's just two people. And you can sue companies for all kinds of dumb shit, such as "I got scalded by my coffee and they didn't tell me it was hot!!" which is why a lot of those paper coffee cups already have warnings on them so companies selling them can't be sued for selling hot bevarages.

This is funny, because in the UK the “Karens” are the opposite of this. British Karens right now are the middle aged women posting pictures of people at the beach on social media captioned “DISGUSTING DONT THEY KNOW THERES A PANDEMIC ON”, and calling the police on their neighbours for having a family barbecue.

It could be something to do with differing values of freedom. In Britain, middle aged people tend to be the ones begging for more government control.
