why aren't other countries making nicely produced propaganda like this?

I would love to try a zongzi. They remind me of a Mexican food called "corundas" from my state

I'm eating them tonight because of the dragonboat thing.

Yes, in the videos it says they are made for the Dragonboat Festival. Are you Chinese? Tell me about it

These are corundas for comparison

The ones I eat are not like that, but bigger. They're usually a full meal.

They're 80% sticky rice and mushed beans. Salty to taste. And inside you have minced pork or chicken. You also have a duck egg yolk. And a small piece of Chinese sausage, which is sweet.

The whole thing is salty and savory, with the only sweetness coming from the piece of Chinese sausage. You usually eat it plain, but you could add a tiny bit of soy sauce to it or sprinkle some sugar on it.

When I was a kid I like to play with it and beat the zongzi into a mushy puddle by adding lots of soy sauce to it. I don't do that any more.

We used to have a family friend who made tons of these and would give it to us. Since they're home made and not store bought, they have tons more meat inside.

the one with the tightest cunt

Sounds yummy. Are there veggie only versions? Corundas are usually filled with meat (pork or chicken) but I always ate plain ones cause I don't eat meat since I was a kid. I also used to dunk them in mole sauce

Yes. Pretty sure the one you posted () was the red bean zongzi, which is veggie and sweet. I think I've only had it a couple of times in my life. Not my thing, since I love meat.

You've probably heard of "red bean" if you're a weeb. Anime characters eat red bean bars and red bean soup. Both desserts. If you have an Asian market near you, you could probably buy red bean bars.

I have (not a weeb, though) and I'm also curious to try it. I have a hunch I'd like it because I like savory bean tamales

Bump

I once ate a mushroom zongzi that was pretty good. Vegetarian zongzi are usually not savoury, but rather sweet and filled with things like red bean or mung bean.

I personally prefer the savoury version over the sweet version, but that's just my preference.

The key aspect of zongzi is to use sticky rice (NOT regular rice). Sticky rice is a special type of rice that is used to make things like mochi (or in Chinese we call in niangao)

Maybe some day there will be savory vegetarian zongzi
I ate mochi once it was pretty good
>or in Chinese we call in niangao
Looks yummy, too. Although, it loos pretty different from mochi

There's a lot of different niangao. Essentially though at its core, its the same idea as mochi.

You pound sticky rice into a chewy consistency.

I thought Turkish people liked Japan.

read the filename

but you are posting pictures of the atomic bombs on japan.

Chinese guy, tell me about the Dragonboat Festival

I only like Chef Wang simplicity and advanced Chinese cookery, he sucks at making zongzi though

when it happens i'll post those dont worry

basically, its a holiday where we eat zongzi with the family and also do boat racing.

the legend associated that there was this really famous poet named Qu Yuan who lived over 2,000 years ago, who killed himself by drowning himself in a river after his country was destroyed by invasion.

the people of his village symbollically dump rice dumplings into the river every year so that the fish would eat the rice dumplings and not his dead body.

The boat racing are a symbol of the attempts of the villagers to rescue and recover the body of Qu Yuan from the river.

Do you have anything similar to the Dragoboat Festival or zongzi in Vietnam?
Thanks for the info. Chinese culture is very interesting and I love hearing its stories

Your welcome

We do have something similar called 端午
Đoan ngọ on the same day, in which we celebrating mid year. We also have bug killing festival on that day.
We eat bánh ú which is similar to zongzi. However, it is eaten throughout the year and not limited to 5/5

>We also have bug killing festival on that day.
Do you kill real bugs?

Zong zi is eaten throughout the year too.

It's not like mooncake, where it's only eaten on 1 day. Vietnam has mooncake too.
