I don't know what stats you've seen but our government counts payless internship and other pointless shit where you go somewhere to pretend to look for jobs or to just sit on your ass doing whatever the fuck you feel like for some hours to pretend you're doing something productive as employment.

Web development, data science, tech jobs. I'm not shitting you. Something like one out of 20 postings is an unpaid internship.

I obviously had to search for it because I don't have the time to sift through postings. But there are enough of them for you to notice. Not just on indeed, but dice, monster (haven't seen any on LinkedIn though)

I think this is the problem. LinkedIn generally has a higher quality of postings. I've only ever seen sketchy looking postings on Indeed, and monster in my experience is like 75% dogshit.

It's pretty great. But I haven't had much success with it. I was going to do an intership this summer but it didn't fall through. Now I need to weasel my way into an entry level position. But, Christ, it doesn't seem like you can do anything without having at least a little internship experience.

Not all recruiters will look at your LinkedIn, some will of course, but not all. No one is going to questions why have you have X contacts, that's ridiculous

I only have like 5 contacts but I've had more success on LinkedIn than all other platforms combined. Besides, you lose nothing by having one, even if you are getting rejected what's the difference between that and getting rejected on Indeed?

Fuck. That's what I'm afraid of. My room mate found an 80k job, but he did an internship at a national lab last year. We're both on par academically, but I made the mistake of dicking around last year. I'll just try extra hard :-)
