Yeah, man. I wouldn’t say it’s nearly as bad but there are people living in the USA who still have dirt floors. I think Europeans tend to look through a tinted lens because the European continent has been so developed for so long, especially in tiny little Britain. You have to realize that even highly industrialized nations will have severe lagging poverty especially if they’ve industrialized relatively recently and are quite large.

Westerners have no idea how massive China is. People see megacities like Shanghai and Hong Kong and think it’s first world but don’t realize that those places contain less than 3% of China’s population. It dwarfs Europe in population and most of them are poor
