We only hold Libya for a few decades, France hold Algiers for a century and a half. They also used to actively settle in Algeria.
Libya wasn't even in our original plans, it was just our attempt to cope with the fact that we were cucked by the French in Tunisia, where there was a considerable Italian presence. The Frogs and the Angl*s didn't want Italy to control both sides of the channel of Sicily.
Also Libya has a population 1/10 the size of Algeria, so there's that
