it's about a fucking time to ged rid of those retarted imperal units

>at last
>August 2019

the next step should be switching from ultimate retarded 1000/1001 framerates to integers

America has used metric for a long time when it comes to important stuff, like the military and NASA.

Can confirm I learned metric in elementary school

And now future generation won't have to work with imperial at all anymore.

NASA lost an 800 million Mars probe back in 1999 because someone introduced the navigation data in imperial instead of metric kek.

We went metric decades before I was born yet pounds/miles/pints etc are all still used by the overwhelming majority

nothing will come of it unless you replace all the street signs, cooking recipes, and what not. Also, we already learn metric but unless they completely stop teaching metric it won't matter, and everyone older than them will still use imperial so nothing will change
it's england's fault for us not being metric, by the way

nooo this is basically communism!!!

>street signs
explain

they're all in imperial still, there are barely any that have both metric and imperial

I guess he means the signs on the roads and highways which say "McDonald's 1 mile ahead" and stuff like that.

Alright, we all know that they're going to twist this thing into a political issue. Who's going to be the libtard, the one supporting metric system?

Oh of course, I'm an idiot. I thought you were talking about street name signs etc...

The end of american imperialism

How do you feel about imperial units?

by the way, please read this for more
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metrication_in_the_United_States
we've tried multiple times but americans are just too retarded to switch entirely

>taught imperial by boomer parents
>taught metric at school
>road signs are mph
>everything else is metric (except beer)

I just don't know anymore.

Based and metricpilled

Same here apart from road signs. Also height and weight idk if anyone actually measures their height in cm lmao

their units have been defined as fractions of the mtric system, their major institutions like military, academia and big manufacturers have standardized into metric, and their schools have beeb teaching metric for decades
they can't even agree on wearing masks even on the face of an epidemic, turning it into some sort of political debate, meanwhile they've been shitting on metric for years, what nakes you think this is the time they'll officially adopt metric for sure? we'll probably have a dozen threads with twitter screecaps of Americans likening metric to communism if any of their politicians hints at it
I remember an American flag saying that metric is marxism and by adopting it you're destroying culture, I shit you not

no, it was a component in it, manufactured by Lockheed, that worked with imperial
American aerospace companies are used to imperial, and even when NASA orders equipment to be made with metric in mind, shit sometimes slips
all the flight instruments in Apollo, and the shuttle used imperial (partially because they already had then laying around and because the first astronauts were pilots) even if the onboard computer used metric

Metric is used here, more than how it was when boomers were young. But its mostly just for measurements and scientific/engineering data and the like. Imperial is still very much used for everyday life. Mph will still be used a lot more than kmh, people will still measure themselves as 5’10 than 1.8m, etc.
Not him but I prefer metric for measurements and whatnot. Then again I was a navyfag for a bit so perhaps I’m biased.
Also this lol, there’s still a fuckton of boomers and other people who will see it as literally communism. Already a bunch of people who can’t be assed to wear a mask for a few minutes to cover their face hole outside, the hell makes you think we’ll just randomly switch to metric in 2023? School quality can be insanely different in a neighboring county or district, never mind across all 50 states.

>everyone older than them will still use imperial so nothing will change
are americans immortal or something

Somebody should point out that measuring ingredients by volume instead of weight is retarded.

never

dood, it's pretty cold outside. maxium temperature for today is 30F...

t. kitchen scale cuck

EVROPA keeps winning

>imagine believing this
I think they’re handier when you’re referencing things that aren’t exact, so like if you need to know roughly what an inch is, just use your thumb, a mile is a 20 minute walk, etc. but metric is obviously better for scientific or military matters

Good, now it's time for them to add 12 hours instead of saying pm.

>the Kraut fears the meridian
