I always tell Americans I meet that my father happily pays half his income to taxes but we still have multiple homes and cars and travel wherever we want whenever we want.

during our public schooling, they really drill into our heads that "TAXES BAD" and simplify the War of Independence to be entirely about taxes. Even I fell for all this shit until I took US history in uni.

This, and that. While I can understand a personal opposition to high taxation for the small percentage of people earning massive amounts of money, more taxes and better social spending allocation would greatly benefit the lowest 95% of income earners.

Ironically, it's almost always people who earn jack-shit, have no education, and sub-par health care who are most vehemently against social spending.

Why is this an even argument? Nobody tries to debunk that if you socialize everything you can give people jobs and shelter at least temporarily. That was never really debated. The debate is whether that’s sustainable in the long run.

Is our system sustainable in the long run, user? We had a brief period of prosperity post-War--now capitalism is catching up with us, as wages and protections for the working and middle classes flounder while bourgeois profits increase.

Forget about developed countries--shit-holes like Mexico, India, and Colombia manage to provide subsidized tertiary education and health care to their citizens. While the quality of service, in either case, is nowhere comparable with what we have in the United States, at least poorfags in such countries have the option of receiving an economical education or complementary medical treatment.

Meanwhile, an ambulance ride in the United States can cost several thousand dollars--even with adequate insurance coverage.

It is as long as there isn’t a lot of immigration into the country or sudden increases to the population and if there is immigration into the country, then it’s made clear that social programs are for citizens only.
