I'm in the process of gaining German citizenship (through family), and I'd like to maybe move there one day because living in the US sucks right now.
Would Germans accept me or always treat me like a tourist?
What are the best cities to live in for an immigrant?
What important things about Germany should an immigrant know?

An american family moved here like 2-3 years ago and the women was pregnant. She asked a neighbour what her sons name was and then named her kid the exact the same name
Don't act like you're "returning".
Most europeans don't like that but germans became especially anti ethnic nationalism after WWII.
Unless you're going to East Germany, in that case you'll have no issues.
>living in the US sucks right now
It’s really fucking annoying when you guys say stuff like this. It would be one thing if you said how you don’t want to be here for X Y or Z reason but your blanket statements are not only stupid but really fucking annoying. You don’t even open the door for people to really ask you genuine questions about your moving or motivations when you do this.
He is oppressed by all the anglos here
Mehmet?

>Would Germans accept me or always treat me like a tourist?
if you mean accept as in accept as german than you'll be in for a bumpy ride
Move to an international city like Berlin, it will be hard to be accepted by native a Germans.
lol
>accept me
yes
>accept me as a native
no
here is your place toytowngermany.com
Not as in having people believe I'm German, but as in willing to be friends and such.
Yeah that's a good point, I'm sorry that I phrased it like that. I guess I just would like to live somewhere where health problems are less of a financial concern and I don't have to drive every day so much. Beyond that I think I'm bored of living here for so long.
yea sure why not, depends a bit on whether you intent to stay for good or not though
just my opinion but I think germans tend to think more than other people that it's a waste of time to befriend someone who will leave anyway
>Would Germans accept me or always treat me like a tourist?
You will always be a foreigner. Blood makes you german, not a piece of paper and while lots of people will tell you otherwise they will always treat you differently.
Your children might have a chance if they grow up here.
>Beyond that I think I'm bored of living here for so long
move within the US? you have every scenery imaginable
In terms of physical environment that's true, but culturally the US is pretty similar all over. Not identical, but enough that I feel like immigrating instead of moving somewhere else in the same country.
implying i want to be seen as a g*rm
i will always be chilean, even if expat
no one asked you
you think people who move to germany want to identify as g*rm, it was my duty to call you out on that false belief
I'm alright with being considered a foreigner, it's not like I'm trying to trick people into thinking I'm a born native. As long as people don't automatically dislike me for being a foreigner (specifically an American foreigner), I'll be happy.
>Would Germans accept me or always treat me like a tourist?
Depends on you, honestly. If you want to integrate/assimilate no one will stop you, most people will help you in fact, but if you dont, you could be facing loneliness.
>What are the best cities to live in for an immigrant?
Basically any city, but places like Kaiserslautern or Bremen are especially good for an american because of the american army bases nearby. Meaning you will have no problem finding fellow americans and also that the city and inhabitants are already used to americans.
>What important things about Germany should an immigrant know?
The german language would be a good start. Also dont make Hitler or Nazi jokes all the time.
judging from the fact that you are using english right now, you will not be accepted as a native
OP heavily implies that he wants to identify as German by asking wether he will be accepted and mentioning his heritage. why are you seething so much?
>places like Kaiserslautern or Bremen are especially good for an american because of the american army bases nearby.
I hadn't thought of that, that's a good thing to consider. Thanks a lot.
>Blood makes you german
Damm that is some racism 101.In the new world despite all the memes posted here you just have to move. I believe this toxic nationality system make so many europeans move out for a fresh start.
>Would Germans accept me or always treat me like a tourist?
Many people born on their own ethnostate are treated like shit one way or another, seeking acceptance is a mistake, just obey the law and be a morally correct person. What is going on people hearts you will never know.
didn't get that impression at all from the OP
he just asked if he will be accepted, which doesn't imply being accepted as a g*rm with g*rm blood or whatever standard you're asking for identifying as g*rm. you're projecting
why not every thing that speaks german is german to their eyes not even memeing. Just go forward
>don’t act like you’re returning
Lol you realize germany has a literal ethnic reparation program right that has brought millions of people based in descent right?!?!
we dont do these kinds of things anymore
our sceneries are inferior to those in Europe.
All of our mountains hail in comparison to the Alps.
Our beaches are cold current, polluted, and overrated.
The swamps in the southeast are gross and smell terrible.
The temperate forests are the same as everywhere in the world, just that we have more bugs, and before air pollution destroyed New England, we had more red leaves in the fall.
And the entire middle of the country is ugly and desolate as shit.
I was planning on emigrating to Germany but then I read this and now I'm not so sure
>Neo-Nazi network in police covered up at highest levels of German state and politics
>New reports about right-wing extremist terrorist threats in Germany against representatives of the Left Party, artists and journalists are revealing the extensive fascist networks inside the state apparatus, which are being covered up by the highest authorities in state and politics.
I live in Germany and Germans are always asking me if I have German blood (bit over half). Look more Nordic though.
Germany is currently one of the most progressive countries in the world, it mist be really painfull to be far right or facist there.

Oh, just realized you are mentally ill. Never mind.
That program is only for Volksdeutsche.
Also having blue eyes and blonde hair helps a lot. As well as knowing German. The wog expats I know face more issues.
