The borders between Italy, France, Spain and Portugal have nothing to do with culture, people or the "nation", they have to do with the state that the people are subject to. Only reason they are distinct now is because the governments forcibly assimilated the in between dialects, like Occitan, which you mocked me for calling it a separate language than French, even though its just as close to other Latin languages.
