American social hierarchy is based on race with whites at the top.
Race is (mostly) based on physical appearance.
If a white is dark-skinned, he might get confused for an Arab or a Latino, and be looked down upon for being a lower caste.
This angers the dark white and makes him more likely to re-affirm himself in the racial social hierarchy via racism, xenophobia, and white nationalism.
