I'm 24 and have never had a job. I just graduated with a history degree from a Russell Group university. Essentially all my classmates are going into good graduate level employment or at least doing something like teaching, so I should be able to get at least something. But I basically have no hope. I have no work experience and I have less knowledge of the jobs market than the average 16 year old. I genuinely feel useless.

I don't even know HOW people get jobs. My friends who went to university, they came out of uni and had jobs within a few months. Now several of them have quit those jobs and moved on to other jobs. I don't know how they did it. I genuinely just don't get it. How does one find a job? Whenever I browse sites like Indeed and Reed to find jobs, they all are cloaked in all these layers of corporate jargon and I don't understand what the job actually is. Then they inevitably have requirements such as "X years experience in industry required" or "degree in STEM or business/economics required" which means I can't even apply to them anyway.

I just don't know what to do. I don't want to end up working at McDonalds for years on end. Even McDonalds would probably reject me. What am I supposed to do here exactly?
