Why do so many Americans think science is an opinion or political belief these days?

Why do so many Americans think science is an opinion or political belief these days?

How do we fix this?

By killing all muricans

they only say it to trigger liberals, they don't really believe it

It is an opinion. If you think science is fact you are actually just a moron who doesn't understand how science works.

Big brained American post.

Not Americans, right wing idiots. Part of the reason is that tribalism demands you pick your cherry beliefs first, then come up with bullshit narratives to """back them up""". Thus, things that don't bend to whims but facts, like science, gets """"politicized"""" as means to """discredit"""" what you refuse to believe.

>right wing idiots
No it’s just extremist of all kind

Because many sciences devolve into multiple lines of thought until the definitive answer is found, and there's also pseudo-science like psychology.

Because Americas are some of the dumbest fucks in existence. 50% of the population hates academics and the other 50% trusts them blindly. Most Americans cant even into basic logic and intro philosophy. I once claimed that incest could be morally neutral in certain niche situations and the response to that was that's gross and then when asked to elaborate why they kept saying it was just wrong. I unironically hold a hate for all Americans. They are all subhuman fat fucks. They're are uneducated, a huge percentage of the American population thinks university is for retards and that a true American goes into the trades or some dumb uneducated shit like that. We have abysmal literacy rates, you know it's possible to graduate high school here without knowing to read? We have the highest incarcerated prison population, one of the highest obesity rates, and are ranked terribly in education (for being a supposed first world country.) The only saving grace for intelligence in America are the top rate universities, and those are all saved for the richest American. It isn't impossible to get into a top ranked private university, but it's hard and even then it's only a really tiny percentage of the population. The people here are the fucking worst and if one day they were all eliminated with a nuclear weapon, I would feel no pity or sadness because no human being would've been killed.

Get yourself learned fool

Here we go. Case in point: add imbicel #3578382 to the list.

Right wingers are notorious for eating up all the schizo bullshit. How do you think someone like Alex Jones ends up a millionare in literal soy encapsulated sugar pills? Though i grant stupidity isn't exclusively tied to politics, and things like antivaxx moms are part of the Idiocracy.

Do they really?

I've never been treated badly in America, in fact I would say one of the saving graces is how nice people here can be.

Retard, I am correct. Science is literally opinion. If you believe that what you find using science is fact then you are not fit to be a scientist. The most important thing is science is realizing that everything is an opinion and so could be proven incorrect by new evidence. Fucking brainlet retard.

Daniel cant stop ranting about his country even when he's not there lol

shut the fuck up chinkpoonadian

Poorly worded but he’s right. Consensus doesn’t magically make something true even if it’s scientific consensus.

50% of the population hates academics precisely because there’s nothing scientific about what they do but desu you just kind of sound like a wannabe intellectual.

>I love heckin' science!
soyjak.png

> some random literal fucking who on the internet
How do we even know they’re American? How validated did you honestly feel when you saved this picture?

because science is not neutral and has always been a political tool, since scientists have opinions that will always end up going to their work, and they work for people with opinions

because science is not perfect either and there's a lot of misleading or downright fraud (faked evidence) in scientific literature, never mind publisher bias and shit like that.
e.g. vaccines causing autism

Sciences in America became another battlefield of the culture war

because people think that if a group of scientists find X to be true, they should be able to ban researching about Y

>There is nothing scientific about Physics PhD's working in Academy
You're proving my point. Academia isn't just about science either, you have history, literature, and philosophy departments. Important cultural centers. Also I don't claim to be intellectual because frankly I'm not, but it feels to me that America has a huge hate boner for Academics.

Who?

There’s a difference between an opinion and a complete theory backed by evidence. Fucking brainlet retard

>How do we even know they’re American?
He's using miles you dumbfuck. 100% american

Our hatred of science is going to be our downfall. Other empires fell apart Becuase they couldn’t keep up with scientific advancements and got devoured by nations that did

Science is consists of theories which describe the way we believe the world works.
Then we do experiments to confirm or deny those theories. Repeatedly.
Over time this results in a body of knowledge that is regarded as fact.

The problem in america is that there science can mix with the money of someone who wants to prove something.
Or the academics themselves can have an agenda when doing a study.
For whatever reason this happens more in america.
This is why americans don't trust science.

>responding to a dumb American who can't read or know that imperial is used by only 3 countries

I don't think it's someone in particular. Just the textbook image of a weirdo nerd.

You shouldn't trust americans in general

Are you actually trying to say that antivaxxers are a problem that stem from trusting science too much?
Why don’t they then trust one of the 13 newer studies that have disproven the link between vaccines and autism?

This. Scientific theory=/=normal theory/opinion

we're one of the top countries in the entire world when it comes to science.

America does, undoubtedly, "have a huge hate boner" for academia. Folks on one particular end of the political spectrum tend to construe university-and-above education as unnecessary and "elitist." They're perennially incapable of understanding that advanced education can be beneficial in respects beyond earning potential--after all, we cannot simply be a country of plumbers, welders, and electricians.

These people tend to get upset when academic consensuses--suggesting that global warming is real, or that gay people didn't "choose" to be fags--push against their deeply-ingrained beliefs.

Because they want to hear what they want to hear. They're opposed to wearing masks, so they decide--for themselves--that enforced mask usage is part of a liberal, political conspiracy designed to make Americans submissive.

Science has become indistinguishable from magic for a lot of people. Some people actually think the police can do all the shit you see on ncis.

I suspect the somewhat naive approach of analytic philosophy thats so common in anglo countries of "science will explain every possible with enough research" plays a large part.

Is there a problem of people trusting science too much or is there a problem of people reading shitty pop-sci sites and sensationalized journalism?
