How fast can Chinese read hanzi? Is it slower than reading Latin alphabet? I turned on a movie with Chinese subtitles and I can't imagine being able to keep up with reading such a complicated script.
>Leicht Heute rannte ich. Vati schneidet Obst. Hast du Kaffee gemacht?
>Mittel ...! Lasst uns nach dem Strand gehen um Schalen zu sammeln! (Wenn ich gehe nach Hause, sage ich, ich werde spazieren, oder, ich werde gehen mit einem unspezifiziertem Transportmittel?) Manchmal weißt mein Hund wenn ich Traurig bin, und sie kommt nach mir und leckt mich. Die zwei Kinder verfolgten die Katze rund das Haus. Es passierte das sie eine Vase umstießen.

>Easy The newspaper is from yesterday. My grandpa likes good jokes. Can we have the menu please? What's your opinion on white wine?
>Intermediate When I opened the door, I saw something awful. The murderer stood right in front of me. He was pointing his pistol at me with a smile on his face. "Are you ready to die?", he asked grinning.
>Hard It is one of the brightest comets in the northern hemisphere since Comet Hale–Bopp in 1997. Prior to that date, the comet will be getting closer to Earth as it moves farther away from the Sun. For observers in the northern hemisphere, in the morning, the comet appears very low above the north-eastern horizon, below Capella. From the infrared signature, the diameter of the comet nucleus is estimated to be approximately 5 kilometers.

I can read it pretty fast already. It's not really hard, theres a limited number of radicals used to create chinese characters. Once you know these theyre pretty easy to differentiate

I read about this a couple days ago. They read 2 words a minute faster than English speakers. Not much different.

>Leicht Die Zeitung ist von gestern. Mein Opa mag Witze. Dürfen wir das Menu haben, bitte? Was denkst du von Weißwein?
vielleicht werde ich später die andere übersetzen, es ist jetzt Mitternacht

Can anybody with any knowledge of Arabic help with what it says here? It's written on this weird sword.

>Mittel >...! Lasst uns nach dem Strand gehen um Schalen zu sammeln! Kommt schon! Lasst uns [zum/an den] Strand gehen, um Muscheln zu sammeln. "shell" has different translations. In this case the English word shell is just a descriptive tern, while German has a special word for the animal (though, tbf, the German word was just an early loan from the latin word for muscle). "nach dem XY" is an old fashioned way of expressing this and not used anymore, but you might find it in older literature. >(Wenn ich gehe nach Hause, sage ich, ich werde spazieren, oder, ich werde gehen mit einem unspezifiziertem Transportmittel?) I'm not quite sure what you mean by this, can you rephrase it? >Manchmal weißt mein Hund wenn ich Traurig bin, und sie kommt nach mir und leckt mich. Manchmal weiß mein Hund, wenn ich traurig bin und sie kommt zu mir und (sch)leckt [check out en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indo-European_s-mobile if you're interested] mich ab. You want to use "jmd. ablecken" here because "jmd. lecken" has a very strong implication on licking female private parts... >Die zwei Kinder verfolgten die Katze rund das Haus. Es passierte das sie eine Vase umstießen. Die zwei Kinder verfolgten die Katze rund um das Hund. [Am Ende/Letztlich/Letztendlich/...] stießen sie eine Vase um. "They ended up" can't be translated directly as you noticed, but your translation doesn't work either, since it sounds unnatural. Also note the difference between "dass" and "das".
>Mein Opa mag Witze. *gute* Witze (prolly missed it) >Dürfen wir das Menu haben, bitte? What's meant here is the card or booklet where the various meals of a restaurant are listed and this is called "die Speisekarte" in German. "Das Menü" are the actual dishes served. >Was denkst du von Weißwein? "Was hältst du von XY" or "Wie findest du XY" sound a bit more natural. But since this is just an exercise you might as well go for the direct transl. "Was ist deine Meinung zu XY?"
Daniel Smith
Is that a shitpost? Cause that's actually a normal phrase. Or was it because of the subject?

How the fuck do i learn vocabulary ive been doing flash cards on family names for like 40 mins and nothing fucking sticks when i try and think of each word without the visual clue
except i can't because i don't know any fucking words

Get a list of basic words of the language that you are learning and move from there. For remembering them you can:
1. Write them down 2. Make correlations with the words of your language 3. Flashcards(you are already doing this but still) 4. Don't learn them without context, try to learn them in a phrase and it becomes way easier to remember it
Well that's at least what I do
Henry Hernandez
Flash cards with single words on them won't do shit. Your brain needs context to fully form neuron networks that make you remember words, simply put. You need more than just "look at word" and "look at word translation" because the brain won't treat that as important information because it's not connected to anything relevant so the memory is quickly discarded.
Try finding flash cards that use the words in a full sentence instead.

you could always have flashcards with target language dictionary definitions of the words, or pictures which illustrate them individually instead for words
