It isn't a meme, though. Most European men have curly/wavy hair, especially Meds. It only shows up when their hair is long enough though so the number of men with straight hair seems much higher than it really is. See pic related. At the roots the hair might look straight but it curls towards the end, you don't get that with purely straight hair. And pic related is a generous example, most European men's hair starts to curl much earlier. I'll post another pic to show what I mean.
