FAQ U: >How do I learn a language? What is the best way to learn one? How should I improve on certain aspects? Read the damn wiki >Should I learn lang Y so I can learn lang X? No >What is the most useful language? Your target language >What language should I learn? Your target language with a thick American accent
Go ahead if you want, just don't use it as your only resource. That's been what I've found.

> Anki flashcards with phrases with the words that you want to learn > Grammar books or course books > Listen a lot to the language that you are learning even if you don't understand
This is the basics

I use duolingo first to get used to the language and learn a few words, then I go to the books available in the mega folder and I start reading the newspapers.

Anyone else keep a diary in their TL once they get to a certain level?

Also read a lot of newspapers or of any media that interests you. For learning vocabulary read the pic
With Esperanto verb participles, how do you know when to make it an adjective or adverb?
Evan Jones
Not as a sole source of learning. Could be good for practice early on, depending on how far along you are. I personally thought memrise was better at giving you phrases that you might actually use in real life.

Are you talking about ite/ate/inte/inta verbs? You use ita/inta when describing an object, and inte/ite when the action happens with the main verb in the sentence, or relates to the main verb in the sentence.
>La aŭto estas rompita. The car is broken.
>Mi rompis la aŭton drinkinte dek bierojn. I broke the car after drinking ten beers.
The adverb form is also used when saying the verb alone.
>Bone dirite Well said
Jack Miller
Wouldn't "drinkinte" also refer to the subject though?
Ayden Roberts
It refers to the event of the speaker crashing the car. I guess it could refer to the speaker in that example since that's the state they're in. This might be a better example:
>Mi helpis mian amikon manĝigante lian dombeston. I helped my friend by feeding their pet. >Mi helpis mian amikon manĝiganta lian dombeston. I helped my friend while feeding their pet.

Anybody got a torrent link for Pimsleur Swedish?

How do inputfags reconcile the fact that weebs will watch countless hours of anime, and yet don't know anything about Japanese other than "konnichiwa" and "yamero"?
Are weebs truly the final nail in the coffin for Krashen and his brainwashed followers?
Jose Richardson
I think a lot of the krashenposting is just memeing
Juan Nelson

there are genuine retards in this thread who think studying grammar is useless unless you're doing translation studies.

Dear /lang/, is Korean a cool an useful language?
Nathaniel Kelly
Because when you're focused on English subtitles, you learn almost nothing about Japanese. Studies have confirmed this.
Isaac Lewis
I am not that australianfag, but do you have any source about these studies?
