t b h american media i've always found tries to simplify the fuck out of everything compared to european/canadian/other anglo films/tv. americans generally are one of the least worldly people so they don't really have the image of other countries being complex places or more than one caricature.

There's a boomer youtubers here, ex military and he always talked about geopolitics. In the latest years he was talking about on how the western world and media will start to portray Latin America as the new world's "bad guys", just like Russia, Middle East, China etc..., a very slow process.
