Those small towns are dead.

The north east and Canada is only good from May to October.

i happen to live in one and it surely is not dead. look up hermann, missouri.

looking pretty in a picture is way different from being somewhere nice to live lol, country australia is fucking awful by and large because you can't earn much money, have limited access to resources and there just isnt much going on.

I'm going to guess Vermont or New Hampshire. Please do tell

where is OP's pic exactly?
Somewhere in Vermont I imagine?
How "dead" are these places?

Dead as in decrepit and mostly old folks living there, with about 150 of them inhabiting the town.

It's Vermont; I image searched it

Looks nice. Reminds me a little of Stillwater, MN

must be peaceful there. Why wouldn't you want to live in a place like this if you can work remote? Are property prices too prohibitive?

Mine has seen the most rapid growth of any place in my state

Land is tremendously expensive and nobody between 25 and 35 can afford it.

No they’re cheap. People don’t move to places like this because there’s not a lot of jobs or conveniences. Plus the population tends to be much older. It can get lonely and boring.

t. Works remote in a Northeastern small town

looks like a decrepit slavnigger village. Thanks for the PTSD episode

New England is the last bastion of the white Man.

we don't have broadband

>Land is tremendously
>No they’re cheap.

What a conundrum. lol

In any case, I understand it can be "boring" but IF you can work remote I don't see how that's a problem. Live in a peaceful village with clean crispy air, maybe grow your own food and then travel when you want human contact. Win situation from my PoV, but then again I'm sorta burned out from cities. Lived in Tokyo, Berlin and Sap Paulo... all huge, too many people.. Tired of it.

towns are pretty but they're shit to live at
cities are the ideal
any different opinion is wrong

but user what about my heckin anxiety and depressionrino

The guy saying it’s expensive is Canadian

is this a color saturated photo?

I can confirm this to be the case

Too bad it's filled with heroin addicts and all of the sane people are leaving the northeast and moving west as soon as they can.

I've lived in Maine my whole life. I suffer. As said, everything is dead or dying. It's so depressing. No opportunities here except medical care for the dying old people.

Land is expensive everywhere but relatively speaking it is cheap in rural areas.

It’s a Zig Forums fantasy. In reality, I rent an old apartment and everyone I ever come in contact with us over 35, if I come in contact with anyone at all. The highlight of my week is going grocery shopping with all 5 other 65+ customers in the store and maybe some other errands. As for traveling, the closest city is several hours away so I don’t go often. At first, it was fine since I spent my time hunting, fishing, hiking, camping. After about a year solo, it got really old and I haven’t done it since. I like the outdoors. I don’t live and breathe for the outdoors. I unironically spend a lot more time playing video games and watching anime than I ever did in my life. I honestly want to move to New York since I know I can’t keep living this way in my late twenties and coming here was a mistake. It’s not a good move for a single male at my age generally speaking imho.

Probably. It looks a little odd. But it does get that colorful here in New England. Here's a more accurate picture.

Yeah, rural areas are dying. The only rural areas I see gaining are college towns and the ones with niche little communities built around a special industry or something. It looks like the future is awfully more urbanized than it is now so I don’t know why I stayed behind.

Why does it look like behind some of these walls incest and in-family violence going on?

Sounds comfy, wanna switch?

Anyone else part of the /newengland/ master race?

I used to live in a small town of about 15000 people.
All there is to do is do drugs and have sex.
Glad I escaped to the city

They aren't but they are hell to live in if you don't see eye to eye with your family
Because without a supportive family around living in a small town truly is suffering.

>nooooo, you don't understand i see spooky house ghosts everyday, my friend got eaten by a wendigo and i met with bigfoot while taking a hike, but my life so boring

Based.

depends where in Brazil

They are dead. I just quadrupled my income by moving away from Nebraska and into the Seattle area. I'm not even among the top earners in this city either.

I had what I believe to be several skinwalker encounters. Not Maine though.

Grass is greener. Lived in a picturesque Northeast rural town and it's relaxing, but after driving out to all the spectacular nature sites, you sort of wish you had more people around, especially young people. I don't want to live in a giant city either, but there's nice mediums between the two you can find.

My life is insanely boring. It's safe and pretty but my soul is crushed. We're all just living on boomer money. I have no future if I stay here and now with corona I don't see myself leaving anytime soon.

They’re dead, dude. Family or no family. If you highly prefer rural living then whatever but the only small towns gaining in anything or with any opportunities are those trendy little college towns or the places that take advantage of some sort of hipster niche industry or something.

How old? 27 and I need to gtfo of mine too.

Maine here. I have seen a lot of things at night.

Spooky ghost towns are cool for a day or two as an adventure.
You have to actually picture living in run down rural towns though. it's not like some lively tight-knit community like it once was where the community was like a close clan. it's impoverished, young people have fled, and the town is falling apart. it's not so cute and fun when there is literally no future.
