It's all very impressive but when are you building the space elevator?

For me it's Koops65

My dick is bigger then creel tower

>Aurecon, the engineering firm working on the project stated that Dubai's new tallest tower will emit a 'beacon of light' from its peak at night. At the top will be an oval-shaped bud, housing ten observation decks, including The Pinnacle Room, which will offer 360-degree views of the city, according to a statement from engineering firm Aurecon, which is working with Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava on the project

we will reach the heavens together, fellow brown man

>Santiago Calatrava Valls (born 28 July 1951) is a Spanish architect, structural engineer, sculptor and painter, particularly known for his bridges supported by single leaning pylons, and his railway stations, stadiums, and museums, whose sculptural forms often resemble living organisms.

>Calatrava was born on 28 July 1951, in Benimàmet, an old municipality now part of Valencia, Spain.

>Born: Spain

he is Spanish.

they are not enthusiastic about building it anymore. It's on hold right now and it has been since Jan 2018. I think they've only built a fifth of it.

jej it's note even possible with modern technology

>they are not enthusiastic about building it anymore
Is this the difference between UAE and Saudi Arabia?
>jej it's note even possible with modern technology
This article says that it's possible to build it on the moon and make it sort of "hang" above earth

You will be punished by god for your arrogance, this will be the second Babylonian tower

Not with that attitude.

Saudi Arabia in general is worse when it comes to governing and management. I learned this when I was driven throughout Saudi Arabia. The moment I crossed the borders the roads got worse. Everything was worse than we had here. From roads, to hostels, to petrol stations, to public bathroom. It's like they are 30-40 years behind us despite them being a neighboring oil rich country. When I actually came back here and stopped at the first petrol station on my way I was pretty happy. I was still in the desert and hours away from the nearest city (Abu Dhabi). But the bathrooms in the station were very clean and it had serviceable food.

Also Dubai Creek Tower could have been completed by now but they only built the foundation and stopped right there. It's probably to scare competition. The Tower still doesn't have an official height. It's to scare off any competition. It can be as high as 1400 meters. They want the highest skyscraper title to remain in Dubai. So if someone was going to build higher than Burj Khalifa, the tower is going to be even higher than that.

>sciencealert.com/researchers-say-they-ve-found-space-elevator-alternative-that-could-actually-work
damn this is unbelievable. Still it will probably be to costly for any country to even attempt it

>Babylonian tower
now that you mention it, they wanted to fill the observation deck with vegetation, what's the inspiration behind this? the hanging gardens of Babylon

Building tall buildings in countries where it isn't necessary is so pointless. Noone gives a shit first of all, all you get is the number one spot on a Wikipedia page, "prestige" doesn't fucking exist. The Empire State sorta makes sense as it is in a high population density area, but the Burj Khalif, Jeddah Tower and that thing? Fucking stupid.

Wish all arab countries get Beirut'd.

BUILD MORE CONCRETE PENISES YES
THE BIGGER THE BETTER

CONCRETE COOOM

>snownigger seething at getting engineering mogged by brown sand men who were fucking camels 3 generations ago

honestly I can agree with this sentiment. But I still don't mind skyscrapers outdoing each other because it's interesting from an engineering prescriptive.
Also we do have tourist money yet we have no attractions. other than the Burj Khalifa?? so I guess prestige is a thing after all

also bonus point of disscussion because it's really interesting: on the 7th of June 2020, China banned any new buildings that are higher than 500 meters. It also banned copycat buildings.

Note that China's highest skyscraper, the Shngahai tower, failed. With low occupancy, half of the building doesn't even lit up at night.
