This is my hot take on the Baltic states:
Estonia: almost comically underachieving nation, Estonians as a nations have literally never achieved anything ever, nobody in the civilized world stops to even consider the existence of that pitiful little nation on a daily basis for even a split second.
The vast majority of the world has no inclination of the existence of that nation let alone any kind of cultural or historical knowledge. Estonia has had zero relevant political impact in contemporary history, and even during the world wars their historical relevance is among the absolute lowest of the European nations. Have been lapdogs of foreign powers for their entire written history
Lithuania: The Baltic "have been". It used to be a serious regional power, so they are definitely not a meme country that was birthed by a drunk communist like the one I mentioned above. In terms of cultural and scientific achievements you can almost say they've punched above their weight:

Balts are pretty based. Have a lot of them living in my estate, surprisingly impressive level of English for some reason, in contrast to the Poles and Russians who can't string a coherent sentence together.
A Lithuanian (Natas Kaupas) was also a pioneer of modern street skating. Used to watch his videos religiously when I was learning to skateboard as a teen.

Honestly I love Latvia, why does it get so much hate? It's a nice place for tourism, and not so bad for living either, at least according to my friend who studied there. Also the Language is far nicer than Lithuanian :3

Seriously though, none of Baltic states can be truly independent. We're just too small and our demographics is truly catastrophic, even if you compare it with the rest of Europe. One more generation and our state won't have money to fund the government apparatus, pay pensions or service national debt.

Russians/Slavs in Latvia/Estonia/Lithuania do not want go back to Russia and do not want for these countries to become Russia except some old soviets turbo boomers. Why? It's simple: standard of living. If the standard of living in Ukraine was better than the Russian one, then no Russians in Crimea would support Russian annexation.
