Why??

wtf

serves idolaters right

>Hebei authorities used explosives to destroy the “Dripping-Water Guanyin” statue, as the CCP’s intense crackdown on large religious statues continues.
Another Chinese cultural icon is nothing but rubble after government officials in Pingshan county, under the jurisdiction of Shijiazhuang city in northern Hebei Province, detonated and destroyed a standing Guanyin statue, which was carved out of a cliff and measured 57.9 meters in height on February 2, 2019.

tl:dr : CCP and Xi are angry, corrupt officials bout to be purged

Just like those evil Arab terrorists. Time to liberate China

why?

Because the party is the religion in China. They’ve been systematically rooting religion out of the country for decades. There’s a reason shrines and temples look very different in China compared to Taiwan or even Hong Kong.

Fucking communists.

Xi hates religion

Socialism is the only sanctioned religion in China. They tear down anything that isn’t 100% aligned with the party as prophet and send believers to re-education camps.

5,000 years of history.

>defiling the nature
based. illegal constructions should be demolished.

Based but statues of the communist leaders will be next inshallah

westerners in the 2000s were really into the mentality of "religion is opiate of the masses". But I don't think that's how it works. Because 99% of people were basically below the poverty line (by modern standards) with visible middle class, most governments ended up being monarchies (authoritarian). And it just so happens that most governments historically were religious. Which meant that the governments could use religion as a tool of course. But no major world religion was born to be a tool. Also the reason for most wars in history isn't religion it's authoritarianism. In democracy that doesn't happen. People don't vote for war.

China sadly is not a democracy. It's an authoritarian government. So it's using antireligionism / atheism as a tool. Which is the same old story. For this to change, China needs democracy

>It came down in mere moments, but it took nearly five years to complete the Dripping-Water Guanyin statue, at a cost of about 17 million RMB (about $2.54 million). The statue attracted large numbers of tourists who came to sightsee or worship. It was only around for two years before being destroyed, and taking with it huge profits for the scenic area and local economy.
>It was only around for two years
>two years
Almost got me caring, OP. Sneaky Davido-kun.

>What is copy and paste.

So when will they destroy all of the other tourist trap horseshit they built all over the country? There is no way something this big, expensive and long to carve didnt have some original CCP approval.

this has to be fake, modern china uses cultural artifacts as soft power, they dont do this cultural revolution shit
ah, see

paying homage to the taliban of cource

Anti-Buddhist doesn’t necessarily mean anti-religion. Buddhism is associated with Tibet, Southern China, and Manchuria. The Han people generally followed Confucianism and Taoism, which as far as I know Xi hasn’t been heavily against

Current government really seems to fear religion unlike previous ones. Its like cultural revolution light.

>The Thousand-Buddha Cave was initially built in the Liao and Jin dynasties (907 to 1234 AD) but was destroyed during the Cultural Revolution. Starting in 2000, more than 500 Buddhists came to invest for the reconstruction, spending tens of millions of RMB (more than $1,500,000). In March 2001, the Thousand-Buddha Cave was classified as a “historical and cultural site protected at the municipal level” by the People’s Government of Dalian city.

Chinese government is fucking retarded. They’re literally turning their country into a knockoff of the West. They all dress in Western clothes, literally have a portrait of a German in their parliament as their spiritual leader, and are destroying whatever old culture they had because it doesn’t meet the party line.

The only thing they haven’t abolished is their language and the only reason being that learning English would expose the entire CCP to the normal public lmao.

I’ll wait as Finnish, French, Canadian and American flags seethe at this post.

>they dont do this cultural revolution shit
I watch American vloggers in China and YES they do do this shit. They destroy temples and stuff all the time

Mao even wanted to get rid of Chinese characters and replace them with a Latin version .

no I typed it all myself 20 minutes ago
