Because an ever so small portion of the people here, believes in the promise of American ideals. Minimal tax, laissez faire liberalism, "I'm successfully fully independent of society". It's becoming a popular joke, that the "idiots" go to America in good years, and are coming crying back in bad years. As soon as the economy goes down in the US, they come back. And openly admit in interviews etc. that they've come back home to healthcare, workers right and unemployment benefits - the hole "socialism" network they thought they didn't needed ever, and thus, didn't care about.

Moved back in 2018, because "Danish values are a lot more to my taste, even thou i love the US" - later in the article: His kids are getting older, so probably wanting come of that free university for them, his parent's becoming older, so get them some of the free healthcare and retirement benefits.

And the thing that made me cringe is, his interview is based on his opinion about a law coming to Denmark, about people who's been recently working out of DK working, more than a year, can't get "day salary" any more. What's that? That's next level unemployment benefits. We have unemployment benefits and steady "cash benefits" for the long term unemployed (who has to prove 2 applications per week, but if he's never accepted, due to whatever reason, he continues to get basic living income, if i turns up every week). "Day salary" is a system, if you participate in any union (+70% does), you get your full normal salary after you quit your job, until you get a new one, or a couple of years. Engineer losing you 500k$ job? Still get your salary, as you participated in the union. It's a form of insurance, without the insurance company bullshit.

So what made him return home? Well, he got to old for his career is my take. Now he want some of that free shit, and is mad he can't get the top befits of unemployment, but most settle for less, or get his carer going again.
