I went to a shitty school that didn't have a school lunch program. You could buy extremely overpriced garbage food for $6 if you forgot to pack lunch, but there wasn't a system to feed all students.

i only ate in the school cafeteria during elementary school, 20 years ago. It was a bowl of soup which i never ate unless it was chicken soup, the main course and a dessert. the bad memories I had from it was because i didnt like the type of food and was still forced to eat it, not because it tasted/looked bad.
During middle school I always went home to eat, less than 5 mins walking distance.
During High school if I didnt have time to go home to eat, 15 min walking distance, I'd eat something from the school bar like a pizza slice or some kind of savory pastry
