Also, engine wear happens to all vehicles. It really depends on the owner, but some manufactures are prone to be unreliable. I personally have problems with cars that are difficult to fix, or that the spare parts are too expensive. Personally i avoid Italian and french cars because their suspension is definitely not made for Brazilian pot holes.
