Being a NEET sucks ass unless you have a talent. There's a difference between, say... being a music producer (that's actually good) compared to some sperg too scared to socialise to get a job.

I'm 18 I don't think I'm that much of a leech yet.

My mental health plummets if I don’t at least have a job and I have a small glimmer of hope that one day I will find fulfillment in using it to provide for a wife and kids but those are the only reasons I have one.

I'm going to play the devil's advocate and advise against getting a job. If you're a sperg like myself, then there's absolutely no real benefit to a job other than the money. Being a NEET is essentially the same as being a wageslave, except at least you have time to pursue some small projects/hobbies of your own and you aren't dead tired. Here's my honest typical day:

7:00: Wake up wrecked after just over 6 hours of sleep and get dressed in uncomfortable wagie clothes.
7:15: Have a quick and uninteresting breakfast. The only really enjoyable part is the coffee.
7:45: Leave for work in my car. Be stuck in shit traffic, and during winter have to deal with horrendous driving conditions (and having to spend a certain amount of time freeing your car from the fucking snow).
8:30: Arrive at my desk. Go get some shitty disgusting coffee (but hey, at least it's free). Have annoying, mindless, repetitive and predictable small talk with coworkers ("how about that weather huh" etc.). Check my emails, quickly check the news, and slowly start working while I wake myself up.
13:00: Have lunch at my desk, as everybody else does. During this time I read the news and just browse the internet. At least it's better than having to eat and have shitty fake conversations with my coworkers.
13:30: Back to the grind.
17:00: By now my 8 hours of work are technically over, but like everybody else I have to stay a little longer or it'll look bad for me.
17:30: Leave the office, more fucking traffic, more shitty weather, etc.
18:15: Back in my home.

That's a real problem for some anons though.

18:30: Some days I'll do a little exercise, e.g. pushups or jogging or something like that. On days where I don't, I simply move directly the the next step.
19:00: Shower
19:30: Have supper. If it's early in the week, I'll still have some leftovers from the weekend. Otherwise, I simply do not have the time or energy to actually cook, so I'll just make something very quick. I try to not be too unhealthy, so sometimes I'll just make eggs. Other times, I'll just have something like instant noodles.
20:00: Do the dishes, and prepare my lunch for the next day. Either leftovers, or just some quick sandwich or something like that.
20:30: Finally free, but too dead to do anything productive. What I end up doing is just playing vidya, watching anime, jerking off, and of course posting on 4chinz, i.e. exactly the same things I would do if I were NEET (and this is the part that I really want to insist on in my case against wageslavery).
00:45: Go to sleep, completely alone.

Exactly, having a job is trash if you value having independence or you don't like doing basically the same thing everyday. I have a source of income from something else so I don't think getting a job is worth my time at all. It just makes me feel tired and expendable.

If you're financially independent then more power to you.

For me it was the opposite. After getting a job I felt I belonged to somewhere, that people needed me.

This. It's impossible if you don't feel good when you do it.

We pay tax and the roads remain shit and the schools remain unfunded. It gets to 40% for anyone who earns over 36000 euro yearly, which is close to half. If one earns under that then it's only 20%.
I think our leaders unintentionally are still stuck in the 1960s where they won't put money into new things and will just try to 'act right' about it and do what will look good.
