my dad is indian bro....both my parents immigrated to america. i only speak english, i can kind of read hindi because i went to this hindi school when i was younger but i can’t speak it. i can read hangul and understand korean mostly but i suck at writing and speaking. i can’t cook anything lmfao. though i guess i could make an army stew or other simple shit if i follow a recipe, but i could do that for anything

Blame my parents. monolingualism makes sense when your parents have different mother tongues and live in a foreign country where they communicate in that country’s language with each other. so i basically grew up hearing mostly english and neither of my parents cared enough to try to instill their own mother tongue. my mom more since they speak less english in korea (my dad basically speaks in half english with his siblings / indian friends) but she kind of gave up on that too. and i was a teenager by then so i didn’t give a fuck
