Even in school when you don't have to work or worry about anything, it's still hard to keep up with your prayers, this thing requires will and good freinds but i've been pretty consistent this past year and a half.

Maybe but even the ones who are fresh off the boat are like this. I’ll probably go to the Iranian grocery store today because it’s the only one that has halal meat near me. One time I went and the Persians were bullying the one Mexican worker there. I get this part is a diaspora thing but they uniformly neglect Islam. I was in line to check out once and some White guy asked the clerk when Ramadan was starting and she had no idea so I had to tell him. I don’t know what calendar the Persians use but she had a thick Persian accent so she wasn’t westernized or anything. The only holiday on their calendar is nowruz, persian new year.
Oh and the entire grocery store is owned by Iranian Jews who keep the kosher section separate from the other meats but they mix halal meat with non-halal meat, may Allah forgive us.
I should go to Tehran one day to meet actual Persians to cure my Persiophobia

I'd say smoking isn't that big of a deal, you should quit of course for your own health but it's not a catastrophic son. i know plenty of very good Muslims who smoke.

All muslims I have talked to about faith almost seem to lack the cognitive faculties needed to review their own beliefs rationally, and instead explain it using circular reasoning or some BS about how "the atom was predicted by the Quran".

there are plenty, al-ghazali is a famous example for one. also nothing is more cringe than "I love science" people.

Those things are over. Philosophy is almost denied by islamic scholars today, and m3tazilats are seen as deceivers.

Al-Ghazali is heavily critiqued by most islamic scholars today because "at some point in his life, he started to talk non-sense" simply because he studied philosophy to debate with europeans.

I use them successfully every waking second. Why would I not trust my eyes?
