Both times he is running away.

we do not know the context of his interactions prior to the videos. you are being very shortsighted by assuming the videos themselves show self-defense.

The red shirt is on video acting aggressive before the confrontation happened.
The only way it could be argued to not be self defense is if the kid had shown intention to kill the red shirt and was only distancing himself to make a shot. But that is extremely shaky speculation without evidence.
The video seems pretty clear that the kid was simply trying to get away from the confrontation.

If he wanted to shoot, he had opportunity to do so much earlier in the video.

your analysis is still wrong. there is too much that we do not know prior to the events to make the assessment that he was act of self-defense was legal. how do we know that there wasn't an event prior to the 'red shirt' on the video that provoked the mobs reaction? it's getting obvious that you've already convinced yourself that you know more about the entirety of the scenario than the police do whom are still gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses and establishing a timeline.
