I learned English watching Pewdiepie and playing videogames.
Why is English so easy to learn?
Because if it wasn't so easy, American couldn't speak it.
Because the anglosphere has the best media and culture
Almost all media you are bombarded with is in English, which is fine. It's a wonderful language and extremely useful. Hail our anglophone overlords!
>why is a language closely related to my own with massive amounts of easily accessible media easy to learn
shieeeeet mayne its a finna mystery
based Argie who didn't go to school
I've lived in Germany for a year and barely learnt any German. My work environment is 99% English speaking but with German everywhere else I thought maybe more would sink in, but German grammar is fucking horrendous. I got to B2 in French having never even lived there, but I think my German isn't even A2. The world is lucky German didn't become the lingua franca.
The German I actually managed to learn I had to make an active effort, I really don't get how this passive "watch pewdiepie and play vidya" stuff works, surely at the start you understand basically nothing? And then you need a dictionary for new words or you just learn everything by context?
>why is English so easy to learn
because you have thousands of hours of quality entertainment spoken in English, from music, movies and video games. not only that you probably were around the language even as a child.
wtf i learnt almost all i know from mmos and youtubers too. we are #couplegoals op :p
Same. now we're three lol :p
I didn't learn from school either. Students here have a hard time trying to grasp grammatical rules when in reality the pill to learn any language is repetition. Thanks to English media, vidya, and anime I was able to get through it.
Chinese and Korean are easier
I learnt most of my english vocab by context 2bh. it took years of inpooting before I could write & speak fluently tho
You couldn't speak rl
nglsh
f
r lyef dpndead n ti.
I was going to learn German, but the class was full of perverts, jews and the teacher was obviously gay.
not op, but no native has complained about my accent so far. i think i'd be perfectly fine if i were to visit/move to an anglo cunt
We should just drop all other languages. They're so useless.
Naw, they're cute.
This. How much fucking media do you consume? I got to B2/C1 in French by having a girlfriend that didn't speak English. Do you literally just sit in front of youtube all day? And if so, how did you learn how to speak?
I watched a lot of black adder as a kid. Also Super Mario 64.
>How much fucking media do you consume?
i basically spent all day in my room watching movies/videos/tv shows/ listening to music, Zig Forums helped a lot as well. since i had no friends i barely used spanish so i immersed myself in the english speaking interwebz.
>how did you learn how to speak?
that came naturally i suppose. my pronunciation isn't perfect by any means but most natives would understand me igs.
so you're telling me if I sit down and watch Dutch movies I'll learn Dutch?
post your accent
Best way to learn a foreign language?
Watch a movie spoken in one language with the translation in subtitles. Watch it several times, then watch more of such movies/tv shows.
Redubbed movies tv shows are fucking fail.
Just try having most of the media you consume be in a language you want to learn. But it's much easier to do this if you're a kid.
As for speaking, that's something that people are generally worse at. You simply need to practice.
Based, third season is the best.
no. you're just gonna make fun of me now.
That's not true, I watch anime exclusively in japanese for years and I haven't picked up anything other than very basic phrases, no grammar structures or anything, you fucking satan
native English speakers are the most forgiving when it comes to non natives speaking the language. I'm not gonna laugh at your progress. I can't even say a sentence in Spanish so you're already light years ahead of me
if you post yourself reading something in english I will post myself reading something in spanish.
That's unironically how the rest of us learn English, so you're doing something wrong.
Did you have the English subtitles on?
maybe you aren't interested like the autists from /jp/ but still learnt a few words here and there
pretty much, but full immersion is better
no, spanish is my first lagnuage so I usually watch them like that.
I don't get it. how do you learn when you don't know what the speaker is saying?
see
Yes.
Imagine your accent
