Plebs. They are moving my entire city because the worlds largest iron mine is about to swallow it as the ground is collapsing. We have earth quakes daily now.

we don't know who started it but, there has been 80 mph winds that have moved the fire around, its probable going to destroy my entire home town.
Asher Powell
Even if they do, they still need to build something?!
William Davis

>do you get free housing?
Yes and no.
LKAB, the company that owns the mine is paying for the entire move.
They will move your house/build new ones to the same spec.
My house is getting the old "get fucked" treatment in January next year and is gonna be demolished. I gotta spend 5 weeks in a hotel after that before my new house is erected.
Luke Kelly
Let's cuddle in the hotel while you wait :)
John Adams
You should sleep in your car instead of wasting money on a hotel.
Henry Martin
why cant they just plan it a little better so you move straight into the new house?
John White
My job is paying for the hotel. I work for LKAB (in the mine) as most people here do.
Here's some pics of the move in progress. Gonna take years to move everything. Unless the mine collapses and takes everything down first.

Because the ground is cracking up way worse than expected and it's quickly reaching the point where the city is no longer safe.
Just recently we had a earthquake - 4.9 on Richter's scale because the entire area shifted over 30 cm.
My car moved like 2 meters sideways and every damn plate and glass in my house broke.

Insurance companies are all a bunch of cunts. I wish you the best user.
Leo Nguyen
Dude, get out of there. You are about to get 2012'd
Christian Wilson
thank you user, I wish you good luck for your new house as well
Colton Edwards
at least you don't live in italy. they still have to build the houses collapsed during the last earthquakes in central italy
Samuel Brown
this is interesting. I have some questions
1) does it bother you? i mean the fact the mine obviously fucked something up for the ground to be collapsing and you having to move?
2) does anyone who live there actually care about the place? i guess most people are only there for the work anyway
3) how is it to live so far north? I imagine its comfy af but what are summers like?
Dylan Hernandez
Kek. That would be just my luck.
Landon Young
1. Nah not really. Can't say I'm bored when the place is shaking and the mine is bellowing out smoke every couple hours like a giant dragon. Don't mind the move either, only the fact that I no longer will be able to walk to my job but I have to drive.
2. There's a lot of people who think it's sad that we have fucked up nature this much, but as you said, most people here are just looking to get rich. Kiruna is a tourist hub though, very popular place for hikers and northern light hunters to gather in. Guess they get fucked now while everything is chaotic.
3. It's nice. My hometown is Gällivare, about 1 hour and 30 minutes south of Kiruna so I've lived this far north my entire life. Summers are actually really warm. Been between 22-30 degrees C most of this summer, same with the previous ones in 2019 and 2018. Lots of mosquitoes, lots of humidity.
But the midnight sun makes up for all the crap. Being able to go for a run at midnight and still get sunburned? Pretty nice.
