This is actually a bit of an issue but not so much because they’re resentful but because they are at a genuine disadvantage in any urbanizing nation, which is basically every nation on earth. My parents did it and I wish they hadn’t.

Since the 80s/90s western civilization was developing even further by implementing individualism, thus supporting personal happiness, because people did what they liked, becoming less dogmatic drones like the generation before them.
However, something went horribly wrong. Nowadays, people seem to make up their personality i.e. they don't do stuff because they like it, they do it because it makes them special and stand out in a way which can be "promoted" in social media: "Hey, look I am soo this non-basic type of human" while being super basic.
