It pretty much discusses the institution of slavery as: "a horrible thing in the past that happened between the 1500s and the 1800s and involved white people owning black people in America". This makes dumb kids believe that slavery was limited to a certain time and place, rather than the ancient and ongoing institution it's been from the dawn of mankind to today all over the world. It makes kids think that slavery was just the Atlantic Slave Trade, and they are ignorant of the slave trades of the Romans, Arabs, Turks, Chinese, etc. They are ignorant of even the broad details of the Atlantic Slave Trade, as so much of the education on it is about America, even though the vast amount of African slaves went to Brazil. By teaching kids "slavery was in the past" they forget it's happening now
