It's because you have no rational explanation for this under all contexts of US law. Private paramilitaries are illegal under US law. The kid illegally had a gun (not only because he was underage but because he previously had charges filed against him for wanton endangerment with a gun). He casually conversed with the police he was helping and then he went ahead and fucking murdered residents of Kenosha, a town he is not from.
He is part of a wannabe militia which was involved in a shooting down the street and he was one of the people possibly involved and the people he killed were trying to detain him because he was a suspect.
