what the shit? my pathetic public school had perfectly fine lunch ranging from sandwiches to burgers :DD but theres so much variance amongst schools its difficult to judge.

I'm guessing it's part of the same thing as here, private schools usually provide pretty good lunch while almost all public schools don't and you just bring some sandwich from home.
While in the US most publics schools do provide linch, as dull and unappetizing as them look.
