Hard to explain, it’s a rather complex topic. As a short summary here is my speculation; there is no perceived “need” to know about other countries for the average American. If one wants to see pretty much any climate they can travel within US borders. English is the lingua franca of the world, so they can be lazy. The average American occupies himself with sports ball and mindless television as opposed to learning about other cultures or even our own history.

cringe/cope but theres no point arguing because it doesn't change the point in any way. the rest of the world is still seething about getting btfo by usa for decades even though we stopped owning the world a while ago. thats what causes us to embrace the ignorant label you gave us. when i started using Zig Forums as a kid in the late 2000s, i had no hatred of other countries at all. i just thought it was cool to talk to people from across the globe. but there are tons of anons here from countries that barely ever cross my mind, who obsess over my country and dream of killing me for being a citizen of it. once you realize that its not banter and these people are legitimately seething psychopaths you just stop caring about what they think and embrace the cocky character. this is true for almost all americans on international forums

Saying the US had "world dominance" is not even a stretch, but outright propaganda/shilling, for the period 1950-2000. Some well-known economists/thinkers would argue against me, including many teachers of mine, but I can't see the Chinese as anything but another superpower in the making, greatly affecting how the US is able to exert its influence worldwide. Their great obstacle is managing to destroy, eventually, the dollar, if they want to be true heavyweights.
