Kek actually in amateur play they advise you to just stick to 1. e4 e4 and not bother with anything else.

as a beginner you should learn openings. e4 is specifically better for for noobs as it leads to positions with less calculation involved

Can anyone here play without looking at the board? I have trouble even visualizing the board properly. I can get about 4 moves into the 4 knights opening before losing it.

e4 openings lead to a nice open position with easy attack routes. d4 openings are more closed and not so good for amateurs, and you certainly shouldn't touch Sicilian or Indian Openings.
