I had friends from all groups though I most identified with the honors kids and the goths.

The lunch table where no one actually liked each other but we had no friends so we annoyed each other to pass the time.

What different cliques are there in a typical high school?

I was with the nerdy guys but we liked to party a little. Music (metal) was our main interest but we were the biggest group of school. We even formed a band with some younger guys

I moved effortlessly between them all. Didnt like any of them so i eventually bailed and did my own autistic shit at lunchtime.

Jocks, goths, nerds, preps (frequently in cahoots with jocks), stoners (overlap with goths), and the weebs/kids who didn't fit in anywhere else.

I hung out with the Mormon kids, even though I wasn't Mormon

What happened to the greasers? Bully told me there would be a greaser clique.

They haven't been a thing since the 50s (although a group of people in my high school did attempt to bring them back)

That's like 1950s American high school. There may be kids who are into cars and stuff these days but (at least in my high school) they weren't a formal clique like others. I guess there were the kind of "alternative" kids who listened to punk rock and emo shit and they, strangely enough, had some greaser tendencies in my school.

Cliques are just friend groups, they aren't really defined by what activities/sports the people are into. Except drama kids, because drama kids are always the worst.

It isn't like an 80s teen movie where they all wear matching outfits and sit at their own tables at the cafeteria.

There are just vague subcultures that people associate with.

Our cafeteria was very strictly segregated by groups. It would be weird if one group just started squatting in an area of the cafeteria they didn't usually sit, might even get bullied a bit for taking a table that wasn't theirs

No, at least in my school we referred to each group by their description, for example the guys who sat at the back of the room were called "guys who sit at the back of room"

I didn't fit in any, high school had many stereotypical clique but the druggies were the ones with the most personality so I stuck with them.

Are there really cliques in mutt schools? Here the closest thing we had to a clique was the chads hanging out with each other, otherwise everyone else was just in their own random friend groups

That was me. Now that I think back on it, that was such toxic energy. Would any decent person want to spend time with people that made fun of their friends so much?
