Has Korea ever actually won ANY wars? From my base skimming of Korean history, it looks like an unbroken string of massive defeats, following by slavish kowtowing to whichever power conquered them.
The war that Koreans pride everything on and is pretty much part of their national mythos is the Imjin War, which was pretty much won for them by China lmao.
There was a guy who raped the Japanese in naval warfare, and pretty much that's it.
who is the korean guy? he's hot
...
Off the top of my head so incomplete (obviously not including inter-Korean kingdoms wars). These are all Korean victories (unless specified).
Goryeo-Khitan War
The Khitan Liao Empire was the strongest empire in East Asia at the time.
Goguryeo-Sui War
The Sui Empire was the strongest empire in East Asia (if not the world) at the time.
Countless Goguryeo expeditions/invasions against tribals
Goryeo expeditions/invasions against Jurchens
Goguryeo-Later Yan War
Goguryeo-Yamato War
First Goguryeo-Tang War
The Tang Empire was one of the strongest empires of all time. Goguryeo later lost to Tang AND Silla, not to Tang alone.
Silla-Tang War
Silla didn't "win" per se but successfully kicked the Tang out of Korea and got a peace agreement.
Red Turban invasions of Korea
The Red Turbans were the guys who eventually became the Ming Empire. Goryeo beat them twice. The Red Turbans numbered 100,000 in the second invasion.
Yuan invasion of Korea in 1364
Goryeo counteroffensive against the Wokou
King Sejong's annexation of Jurchens
Any arguments about what I actually posted? Let me know if you have any. Keep posting memes in the mean time to feel better about yourself.
"Korea" before the 800s have nothing to do with modern Korea.
OK Chang. How can pre-800s Korean kingdoms have "nothing" to do with Korea when even the name Korea comes from them?
Yeah the only times a Chinese dynasty actually managed to beat them before pulling out because the costs would have been too high (or they just straight up lost like Sui) were the Qing and the Mongols. There are way too many wars/border collisions to record here between the Koreans and the various nomadic tribes of the Manchu plains. Also obv there were clashes with Japanese pirates as well
"China" before the 800s have nothing to do with modern China.
infact """"China"""" before the 1900s has nothing to do with modern china
