Well, I learn that Arab means 2 things.
A language/cultural group and a race.
The Arab race is mostly limited to the Arabian peninsula and parts of Iraq and Iran (the delta of Shatt al-Arab).
The "Arab language" is more widespread because it has religious value.

Growing up I had a hard time distinguishing between them since they were all Muslims with slightly browner skin than whites and Near Eastern facial features.
