I was a massive fucking loser and I never ate alone, this usually happens to people who want to be alone and isn't because of ostracization

I had no friends, so I went to the library everyday at lunch ;_;

I only did it when none of my friends had the same lunch period as I did. Generally I would just find someone else to sit with or play my game boy

I guess it depends on the school. around here you were allowed to leave for lunch, so everyone just went their separate ways and nobody ate in the cafeteria.

I eat alone and I can easily hang out with people I just choose not to.

I really don't know anyone that ate alone. I ate at one of two or three tables depending on my mood at a given day. We always sat outside though. Eating inside was very unappealing to me.

In my experience not really. Cliques are formed for every level of the social caste. Even the most insane, anti-social knuckle draggers at school managed to find each other and form a group.

It happens, unfortunately. I ate alone most of the time until my junior year. I just didn’t eat in the lunch room or I would skip lunch.

I never ate lunch in highschool, i hung out in the band room and practiced guitar or listened to music outside the door to my next class if the band room was locked.

Not an American, but I ate alone on purpose, denied all the invitations to sit with classmates. Didn't harm my social status.

It's legit, but only the weirdest of people would sit alone, and usually they deliberately sat alone. There were a lot of weirdo nerds in my high school, and even they had a group at lunch where they'd discuss video games and talk about anime

It depended on if my best friends had that lunch, otherwise I would sit by myself and listen to music.

I always ate alone. Outside of class I was always alone in general. The only company I ever had were the special ed retards because my autism also classified me as a special ed retard, and it explains a lot about why I am the way I am today

At my school of like 2200 kids there were like 5 or 6 that I saw a couple of times that ate alone or unironically went into the bathroom to eat. You were a sorta a loser to eat on campus anyways once junior/senior year came around since that's when you were allowed to go off campus and most of us did.

I can confirm. In fact, I never ate lunch in higschool. I always stayed in the library during lunch

I ate alone for the first couple of weeks of high school but as soon as I had the opportunity I latched onto a classmate's table with all his other friends
I ate lunch with them for all of freshman year, but sophomore year they had a different lunch hour so I just ate lunch with all the JROTC kids because I was taking it as a class and knew some other kids involved with the class
then like 3/4s of the way through the year I found a new group to eat lunch with, and then I ate with them for all of junior year too.
senior year though I think they switched again so I ate lunch in this one teachers classroom where a bunch of kids hung out playing BO1 nuketown gun game every day on his smartboard. usually kids I knew from other classes would be there so I'd just join in on the conversation with them.

I went to a pretty good school and none of the rich kids left for lunch. They just ate actually healthy food from home.

This. I remember one time in sixth grade the table of the hottest eighth grade girls including my crush's big sister noticed I was sitting alone and invited me over, it was so uncomfortable I had to get up and leave before lunch ended
