they're pretty funny yeah. sometimes i used to be mindblown just really high from a waxpen watching some new animes and was so struck by the similarities of japanese humor to western, despite them being so alien and enigmatic and inconceivably different from us.

I almost look at east asians as another species, from another galaxy. they're very very very different from us, i feel the way they even experience existing in and of itself is different. but the humour gap is not large, and furthermore, some of the new meta isekai are sooo self-aware/self-referential

Their humour is similar to another shitty language, English where one word can have many meanings or similarly spelled words have totally different and often lewd meaning.
