i find it somewhat ironic at times, after all abortion is soft eugenics which removes undesirables at its core, yet the most right wing parties are against it.
whether it's catholic or not, i am not sure, but said PiS party is a full on populist gib-nao joke which cooperates with a huge mink farming group (3rd exported in eu) and radio maryja (catholic conservative station that speaks positively of the party, the go-to for boomers and silent gen). whatever they can do to keep others distracted while making their position as strong as possible (starting from destroying the supreme court, separation of powers, eu relations and now banning abortion as a whole, including victims of rape and dead-on-arrivals) is their goal.
