Apparently you can strike a nerve if you tell Amerikan to 'pay rent' since most of them don't own anything

I started tipping my landlord after seeing all the hate for them. 10% of my rent and 15% in december.

Please stop, the thread was meant to mock Americans, not support them...

Cope

pay rent

Interesting.

I’ll try it.

Powerful.

Won't work

w-whoa

I wonder if this board actually realizes just how not funny it really is..

I'm 24 years old and have no idea how rent works because I've always lived with my parents who own their house.
When I was thinking about getting a job out of state, I had to look for some place to live but my parents just told me to buy a house nearby (they offered to co-sign) and sell it/rent it out later. It sounded too complicated to me so I didn't end up pursuing that job.

fucking idiot

please no bully

They were talking about mortgages, co-signing, etc and I just felt like it was too much of a hassle

And renting for the rest of your life is much better, right?

dare I say

I happen to know of the crawl spaces you squat in, and the cardboard propped up against a wall you use as a bed in your asbestos laced country.

if you'd like you could rent out the humble shed I use to store my lawn equipment, should be a leg up, provide superior winter insulation, and there's even a potato patch a short walk away!

God I'm looking forward to becoming a landlord

pay rent

a mortgage is a fancy word for a loan for a house
co-signing is a fancy word for someone signing a loan you're on to say you're going to pay for it (for example, when I needed a loan for a car and my mom co-signed, she expected me to pay for everything but put her credit score at risk of dropping if I didn't pay for it. She's basically signed to say I'm good for it)

Dumbass

you pay rent you impoverished little twerp, lol

Why would anyone pay rent if they can just get a mortgage then?
