Ancestry thread

Have you researched your ancestry at all? Not a genetic test but through legal documents?

Been at it a few years and have traced my ancestors back to 15th century Germany, 17th century Netherlands, and 15th century England.

I am a 100% Germanic mutt

i have french ancestry

No point I know my family history to the point that they landed here.

Yes, turns out my family on my mother's side came from Finland in the 17th century.

I've never had a genetic test or looked at legal documents, but my family says we're Bulgarian.

All 4 of my grandparents were born in Bulgarian, we have Bulgarian names, and we all speak Bulgarian, so I'm just going on faith that they're telling me the truth.

My family was sending Germans to their graves in 1920. From inside Germany.
(They were from Silesia.)

Not really, I just know my mother's family came from Bretagne and Normandie, and that my family name is from Isère

>Have you researched your ancestry at all?
Yes, I directly found genealogical trees peoples made online on geneanet about some of my ancestors.
I can trace back for some lines to 16th century.

But I have an Italian grand father, and for him I found nothing.

no
what for?
based, my grandpa was in silesian uprisings and he hated krauts like no one else I know

i don't see the point
people who claim "ancestry" are often extremely cringe, especially (and I'm sorry to say it) americans.

i didnt have to do that, i met my great grandpa (father of my grandpa) he was from italy almost didnt speak spanish, he was a based man, i know were my family came from

Only mutts do that

No, but I know that the first known member of my family was a Khazar priestess who accompanied a merchant caravan into Northern India, where she married a local and had a son.

>user you just made that up
Prove me wrong

>based, my grandpa was in silesian uprisings
Holy fuck, where are you from? My family is from somewhere a bit south to Opole.
Grandpa didn't fight as he arrived here as a teen, but it's possible his uncles fought alongside your grandpa.

>he hated krauts like no one else I know
My grandpa was like this, too. He used to say something loosely translatable as "if you shove your hand inside a nigger and turn him inside out, you'll get a german".

There used to be this "viking" kid in my hs that would constantly talk about how nordic he was, he did all the test and shit too. Pretty fucking cringe now that I think about it

claiming to be something because your great grandparents sisters cousins husbands dog was from there is retarded
it's only for people without identity

No but my family has. I have a few legal documents and some paintings of Coburg done by one of my ancestors. Just a German/Anglo mutt.

my family is from pertugal
i can trace some lines back to the early 1600s
my great grandfather was a nazi sympathizer just like every man in his village. i have a picture of him in his village in portugal and all of them have hitler mustaches and hitler's hairstyle.
when he came to brazil he founded a transportation company and the logo was literally a yellow ss logo

>I am a 100% Germanic mutt

COME HOME, GERMANIC BROTHER

that's the kind i was thinking about. or the lady that starts talking with a fake irish accent because she's irish on her great great grandmothers side or something.
I mean we have viking larpers here too but they're embarassing in a different way.

>"if you shove your hand inside a nigger and turn him inside out, you'll get a german

>my family says we're Bulgarian
how hairy r u

both of my parents are from the south. my dad is part italian but that's all he can nail down for sure, so he's probably mostly english, german, and scotch-irish. my mother is cajun, so she's mostly french, with some german. probably some english and a little bit of welsh.

>Have you researched your ancestry at all? Not a genetic test but through legal documents?
Neither, I am sure I am about as purebred Newar as you can possibly get

It was funnier with the gestures grandpa made when saying that. As if actually shoving your hand inside someone's mouth, grabbing something, and bringing it up.

>my mother is cajun

BLACK QVEEN

Only the immediate family is all that matters. I can trace my ancestors :) to 13th century, but honestly whats the point? If you go that far back you will have so many "relatives" because it grows exponentially

you're thinking of creoles. cajuns are hick swamp whites.

>BLACK QVEEN
Nah - likely French. From Arcadia.

>you're thinking of creoles

I'll have you know that I am an avowed non-thinker and I reject your preposterous premise.

Yeah, as far as i know im all arab.
I can trace it to roughly during islamic conquest that my tribe took part in (cant say it for obv reasons) so much so that we have people of my tribe in those places we conquered in really high numbers that we communicate with occasionally, although not as much as the part of the tribe thats near us. Apparently took part in famous battles and shit and heard some helped in the conquest of iberia. The way arab tribes work, to put it simply, is that theres this huge mega tribe called “A”, that every mini tribe is connected to that are named differently, like A1, A2, A3, and when i say “mini” and “big” i dont mean in size or numbers, but that tribe A is more broader and more people are connected to it, than say A1 or A2 (it can get really messy btw, a tribe can be connected to another tribe, that tribe connected to other tribe, said tribe also connected to another tribe, etc etc.)

So in our region, this A tribe controlled it for centuries even hundreds of years before islam (we arent bedouins btw, bedouins and settled arabs are very distinct), and it is still controlled by them, switching hands of the mini tribes connected to it, but our specific tribe, that i come from, ruled it as a sultanate from 1600s, until my great grandfather got ousted in the mid 20th century by colonial cunts. But all is well because we got it back and still control it to this day :) although obviously not as its own separate thing and the word “control” is a bit different nowadays

Pic unrelated its just a random cool arab dude

my great great grandmother is directly related to ottoman sultans, bretty cool stuff
she was the second daughter of 1850's sultan's first son, they meant shit but its still cool
Her mom was taken as a war gift back in the start of that decade from greece, thessaloniki to be exact, and I've visited the city couple of years ago and it was during celebration week as the city's team won the greek league

amazing city, I love my turkish and greek ancestry, wouldn't change it for any other bros

>as far as i know im all arab

My condolences.

Everyone in the entire Western Hemisphere does this. Every single country has Europeans/Africans/Indigenous/Asian people, just in completely different proportions. For example, there are a shitload of blacks in Brazil, not so many in Mexico.

Here's a parade of Argentinians of Ukrainian descent. None of them speak Ukrainian, they only speak Spanish, and none of them have been to the Ukraine but here they are, celebrating their heritage.

But yet when Americans have parades and festivals like this, you think it's cringe.

but there are so many beautiful things to think about, user

One of my grandparents says her family came from a disputed land between France and Germany. That’s literally all I know. I suspect the rest is some combination of French and Italian but I have not much to go on for this.

Tell me about Oktoberfest in America.

>but there are so many beautiful things to think about, user

Wouldn't know, never thought about them, never will, you can't make me

>Here's a parade of Argentinians of Ukrainian descent.
We got some too - pic related, they don't do parades but they have a dance group.

For parades proper there are the Germans from Bukovina that ended mass migrating to a city near mine.

not the guy you're replying to but i had a late oktoberfest this past weekend with my neighborhood. we had coolers full of imported beer and ate a shitton of sausage and red cabbage.

>but i had a late oktoberfest this past weekend with my neighborhood

Sacrilege, Oktoberfest actually takes place in September, only the last weekend is in October.

Those "ukrainians" look super brown

im aware. it was literally just because we had trouble scheduling it earlier. i had a smaller get-together with my family and some friends in september, so i didnt completely ruin it

Pic related - disregard the German flag, they're mostly descendants of Germans from what's today Romania and Ukraine.

The thing is genetic proximity back off each generation, you may have very little in common with your great great great great great grand father.

no

>it was literally just because we had trouble scheduling it earlier

So did we. It was canceled this year thanks to China, and I live right next to it. I live right next to Oktoberfest but there was no Oktoberfest.

Amerisharts have just stopped caring about Coronavirus. im surprised we got it to happen at all, there were probably 50+ people there, not socially distanced and no masks. no cases reported yet.

I did one of those DNA tests a few years ago. I am about half Ashkenazi Jewish mixed with Scandinavian.

Dios mio.....everyone that ends up in South America becomes a literal mutt

Guy on the right looks like my brother.

they all look normal and healthy to me.

Yes i have traced it back to the late 1500s. Even got photos back to 1850. It will be hard to find anything reliable from before 1500s unless they were Christian.

>My family is from somewhere a bit south to Opole.
Yup, grandpa was from that area, south-west of Opole. But he wandered a lot during the war. I can tell you more if you give a shit.

He took part in Silesian uprisings as a teen, few years later he was a military officer in the September campaign, got a bit of PTSD there from what I read in his journal (saw men run over by tanks and such), then after his squad disbanded he moved to the East, found out from other soldiers about Soviets marching in and being in cahoots with Germs on the way (some didn't believe it at first, but grandpa, thankfully, avoided them just in case), and ended up on the Eastern border helping out with defenses against Ukrainian guerillas from UPA. There he met my grandma, who was some kinda nobility quadroon.
After the war he changed his surname (ironically, it sounded a bit German) so the new "Polish" commie government wouldn't make him disappear in a forest, and stayed incognito till he died of old age. Quite a madlad, probably put lots of assholes to the grave. Too bad he didn't live long enough to see the country break free.

My parents were from the Opole area too, but got assigned a flat in Eastern Poland and moved there. And nowadays the smug, wannabe westoid offspring of resettled half-Ukrainian mutts that got moved to post-German lands after the war call the Poles from my area backwards easterners because we don't like lgbt parades, lmao

im 100% Aztec amerindian

I don't really need to, our history is extremely detailed and well kept in the family records.
