here they built new compounds in my university and the design is specific for that. there are no places to sit, the hallways are tight, there's not even a place to buy a snack. it's like a diploma factory, you go to class and then fuck off, no place to kill time or hang out with others. different from the old buildings which have gardens, a lot of concrete benches, places to buy food, palmtrees, little pools with fish. if they could they would turn even these older buildings into the new ones

It would do shit, its still a soulless thing in Sweden, and in my opinion at least OP's pic is practical and to the point with it and not trying to pretend it isnt soulless. Every public building in Sweden has random colour and plants and shit but they are so obviously placed there unorganically with the express intent to make it feel less dead that I think it even heightens the feeling of it being cold and empty.

It depends on the school, I've been in ones that look like your pic, ones that have particle board for walls, and ones that have benches and phone chargers and plants and stuff. Since schools are funded by localities, they vary based on how much tax revenue the locality can bring in.

Why would there be benches in a hallway? There would never be any time that a student would be allowed to use one. At my high school at least, we were given 4 minutes in between each class to move from one room to another. You had to be in the cafeteria for the duration of lunch, and if you had a study hall period you were given a designated seat you were required to remain in. When the fuck is anyone going to sit on a bench in the middle of a hallway packed full like a can of sardines with people running to their next classes?
