Australia is a backwards country in every way. Education is not respected here, companies use decade old tech, there is no innovation whatsoever in anything. Without the mineral exports, it would be no better than Moldova.

There were barely any youtubers from Australia in the 00s. I wondered if internet had to do with it. Obviously, Australia’s a first-world country and not much different from the US. I’m not a dumb American. I figured y’all had the same technology we have but Australians used computers and iPhones less due to slower internet.

My view of Australia as an American is that y’all are just like us but better. Much more laid-back. Less materialistic.

Literally nothing important is done here. The entire economy runs on mineral exports, agriculture, and extremely poor quality services.

Not him but we definitely lag behind other developed nations on things that shouldn't be so hard considering the money is there. Our education system is shit, internet is shit, public transport and infrastructure is pretty garbage (we have an over reliance on cars like the US).

Australians sort of tend to be anti-intellectual, look up "tall poppy syndrome". Idk if its because we're so geographically isolated or because you can make good money digging holes in the ground doing whatever trade job you feel like.

Our past times are drinking to blackout, playing sports, camping, taking drugs and other outdoorsy stuff, if you have a mildly intellectual hobby or something that does not fall into the category above you're best off keeping it to yourself. That being said, no country is perfect and I do love this place

Compared to Australians you would be shamed if you did half of what we perceive you to do. We think of Americans as loud and proud people, I don't find anything wrong it. Our Tall poppy syndrome mentioned earlier is a cancer on society and does nothing but cripple ambitions .
