Are they successful projects? I heard that many of the new cities that Egypt tried to build didn't really work out in alleviating the pressure on Cairo, but the new capital seems like a more serious effort.

The 20 new cities are located right next to the crowded older cities. Everything is being moved to there. From an Egyptian point of view, it's very appealing to move to them. Three cities are already done. A good portion of the new administrative capital is done, so you can technically live there, but it still has another year or so to be complete.
