The distinction between Salian and Ripuarian Franks ends somewhere between 500 and 600, they pushed westwards as one and conquered what would later become France, a country that named themselves after its Germanic conquerors from the Rhine. This probably is why some French chinlets still think the Rhineland is theirs.
